Why didn't Rex Reed give up being a film critic and become a regular judge on the Gong Show? At least I could respect LARGE SELECTION him for that. I wish I could have read what he has said about other movies I have seen and hated. According to Thumper, who stole it from someone else, Rex Reed discovers the movie of the year every other week.

must really be frustrated. I had enough the first time I saw Felipe, the Indian, swish around in short shorts with his derriere hanging out. And how about those tight camera shots of Felipe's loin cloth?
Also, according to Rex, Urban Cowboy is "as big as Texas itself." According to Babe, popular drag about town, all Travolta does is ride a fake bull and then complain that he's hurt.

mean, give me a break. Rex, I liked you better when you made bitchy remarks about fat women in chicken suits:
Capsule film reviews:
The Blues Brothers: Two fat pigs in dark glasses try to make money off unsuspecting breeders.
Cheech and Chong's Next lots of jokes about body wastes. Movie: Absolutely no plot and Yet, quite funny.
Xanadu: The first couple of times Oliva starts to glow orange and then zoom off into space are neat. After that it's old hat. However, great music. Watch for Bambi review.
Encounters of the Third Kind: Go The Special Edition of Close to see it because it's the best film of it's genre; not because you want to see the additions.
Airplane: Great when it hits, poor when it misses. This is one to see. However, there are no leeches in saltwater.
Album review
Jane Oliver: The Best Side of Goodbye (Columbia)--Jane Oliver's voice is somewhat nasal and sometimes I can't understand the words she's saying. However, her voice' is distinctive and 'she believes in what she's singing. I have never been disappointed by any of her previous albums and this one is no exception.
Sometimes compared to the late Edith Piaf, Oliver sings what might be called romantic blues: songs of love; requited and otherwise. Side one is slow and emotional. Every selection is excellent. Side two starts off upbeat, .then slows back down and inishes with the fast Vagabond.: which is the only song I don't like. But, even a bad song sounds good when sung by Jane. Definitely recommended.
